A Weekend In Budapest: Communication

When visiting a new country, it is easy to get excited about the places you will go, the sights you will see, the activities you will do. However it is also Important to learn a little bit about the culture, and most importantly the language! It is something I have slightly neglected, until now.

This is my very brief guide to some basic words / phrases in Hungarian, which should allow you to at least be polite in a shop whilst you are pointing at the things you want.

Basics

Saying hello, goodbye, please, and thank you are the most basic you should learn.

You will want to be able to ask for things in bars, restaurants, and shops. Here are a couple of items

Numbers

Once you know how to have the most basic interaction, and can specify what you want to order. It is always useful to say how many you want.

This is by no means a definitive list, but just some words which you would find useful on your travels. Obviously these are all Hungarian words, but learning them in your destinations language and you should be set to go.
